Bathal

Bathal is the Conquerer, an Immortal of War.

He is generally depicted as an inhumanly tall figure with dark bronze skin, a lean figure, and a handsome face. He is often shown wearing heavy armor, well-used rather than for show. His armaments vary and he maintains a stoic and emotionless mien. Level-headed and intelligent, Bathal is known to be exceptionally calm and reasonable; no sadistic bloodlusting wargod, this. He has been known to both show and seek mercy when the battlefield requires it, though this may be considered a hallmark of his efficiency rather than compassion. Arguably the most human-like and the least occult of the Immortals, as a god of battlefield tactics and the like, worship of Bathal is relatively non-divisive.

Other Immortals

Bathal and Kurn are known to work together and have a complex relationship; many of the stories told of both give the impression that the tactical and calculating Bathal considers Kurn a difficult wildcard with a mercurial nature, while Kurn often feels used and manipulated by Bathal. It is said the only one who could reasonably hope to stand against him is Aphraen - and even then, the odds would be in Bathal's favor.

Worship

In Shadgard Bathal is somewhat accepted, to a lesser extent than Ujaeio the Jester but moreso than the rest of the Harbinger Immortals. He has a presence in Stormholdt.

In the Mistveil Dominion he is quite popular.

He is most associated with Khaldea.

Offerings

Human sacrifice would be seen a wasteful, but tokens of victory or a cut of spoils are considered common offerings, as well as acts of dedication and acknowledgment.

Uncommon Views

The Harbingers have some additional views that they have been making efforts to spread: Bathal glories in sending mortals to war and in domination. He empowers humanity to fight for what they believe in, and to realize their causes and triumph over their enemies. As one army or leader or civilization conquers the other, ideas and philosophies are shared, differences are settled out, meritless ideas are discarded while worthy ones are adapted, and an order stronger than its predecessor is established. There may be times when a civilization is set back by war: a necessary purging of an unstable foundation, ready to be rebuilt with greater ideas. War, conflict, conquest, the rise and fall of nations: it is the fire that fuels the ongoing cycle of humankind's continual exploration of ideas and philosophies, inspiring innovation and new advances, contributing to the ultimate growth and evolution of mortals.
