Animal Husbandry

Animal husbandry is the skill of breeding and raising livestock. Breeding is not yet implemented.

Beekeeping

Begin by building a wooden beehive on your rented farm land (using the construction skill, or hiring someone else to do it).

Put some beeswax into the beehive to attract bees, and then wait until bees begin occupying the hive (it can take several hours) and start making honeycomb. It is possible to have multiple beehives on the same farm, but note that bee varieties in the Lost Lands are aggressive toward other bees, so adding additional hives will decrease the efficiency for all hives on that farm.

When enough honeycomb has accumulated, it can be harvested as needed (see help honeycomb).

Other livestock

You will need to build the appropriate structures on your rented land (hutches, coops, sheds, etc.) before you can purchase the animals from the Stockade Office where land is rented.

Once structures are placed and animals are purchased, you will need to regularly feed the animals and clean their shelters.

Chickens will lay eggs and produce feathers as long as they are fed and have clean shelter. Eggs can be sold, or cooked.

Squirrels, sheep, and other wool producing livestock will grow wool as long as they are fed and have clean shelter. It can take several days or more for a wool-producer to grow enough wool to be harvested. When enough wool has grown, the animal can be sheared. Wool can either be sold or woven into thread or yarn.

Goats, cows, and other milk producers will produce milk as long as they are fed and have clean shelter. They can be milked daily. Milk can be sold or churned into butter.
