Weaving is useful in multiple ways:

  • The processing of raw materials such as wool or plant fibers into thread or yarn, and thread into cloth to be used with Tailoring.
  • Knitting, which can be used to produce a few types of apparel and accessories.
  • Weaving some basic accessories and items from thread/cordage (bracelets, bowstrings, slings, etc.)
  • Weaving baskets and other wicker items out of sticks, grasses, reeds, and other applicable materials.

Weaving Thread/Yarn

Note: Thread is for making cloth and a common component in tailoring and leatherworking, while yarn is for knitting.

Plant fibers:

  1. Hold one plant fibers in your right hand. The additional pieces can be anywhere in your inventory, but must be the same material.
  2. weave cordage to start the auto-repeating process of weaving the fibers into cordage, which counts as thread.

Wool:

  1. Go to a weaver's workshop or any other room with a spinning wheel.
  2. Hold the shorn wool in hand.
  3. spin yarn or spin thread to start the auto-repeating process of weaving the wool into yarn/thread.

Weaving Cloth

Steps:

  1. Go to a weaver's workshop or any other room with a loom.
  2. Hold a single piece of thread in your right hand in order to specify which type you wish to utilize. Any additional thread required (which must be of the same material) can be anywhere in your inventory.
  3. weave cloth to begin the auto-repeating process of turning the thread into cloth.

Weaving Other Items

Steps:

  1. Hold a single piece of yarn or thread in your right hand in order to specify which type of cloth you wish to utilize. Any additional thread (which must be of the same material) and other required components can be anywhere in your inventory.
  2. weave the desired pattern to start the auto-repeating process. (Use the weave command by itself to see a list of which items you're able to make.)

Knitting

Required gear:

Steps:

  1. Hold a single piece of yarn in your right hand in order to specify which type of cloth you wish to utilize. Any additional thread (which must be of the same material) and other required components can be anywhere in your inventory.
  2. knit the desired pattern to start the auto-repeating process. (Use the knit command by itself to see a list of which items you're able to make.)

Notes

  • Many of the weaving processes are rather time-consuming. Take this into consideration when planning your character concept.
  • When it comes to spinning thread from wool, a character with skill over 200 has a chance (increasing with greater skill) per repetition to experience reduced roundtime.
  • Don't bother dying thread or cloth. Simply dye the finished piece afterward.
  • Consider befriending a rancher who raises sheep or other woolly animals so you can have access to plenty of wool for weaving.
  • Consider befriending a bushcrafter who can provide you with plenty of plant fibers from out in the wilds.
