Tailoring

Tailoring is used to turn cloth into apparel, accessories, and so on, and to perform any associated repairs. In addition to simply looking nice, many types of tailored clothing are important, such as socks for travelers and coats, scarves, and other warm outerwear during the cold season. Tailors can also make various types of bags, useful for sorting and storing possessions.

Usage

Equipment you'll need:

  • Cloth
  • Thread
  • A writing implement (such as writing charcoal)
  • Scissors
  • A sewing needle
  • Additional components as required by the specific pattern

Steps:

  1. Have a single piece of cloth in your right hand in order to specify which type of cloth you wish to utilize. Any additional cloth required (which must be of the same material (wool, linen, cotton, etc.)) can be anywhere in your inventory.
  2. trace a pattern onto cloth. (Use the trace command by itself to see a list of patterns are available to you based on your skill and pattern knowledge.)
  3. cut the traced cloth.
  4. sew the cut cloth. Additional components required will be listed at this step and will be consumed automatically from anywhere in your inventory. This step will auto-repeat until finished, and can be stopped mid-process and picked up again later.

Notes

  • The Weaving skill synergizes well with Tailoring, as it is used to turn natural resources such as raw wool or plant fibers into thread, and thread into cloth. Of course, tailors could also choose to simply buy or trade for cloth from dedicated weavers, as weaving takes a very long time.
  • Not to be confused with knitting, which is mainly based on the Weaving skill but can also benefit somewhat from Tailoring.
