With all the various establishments selling food in the land, an engaging way to get culinary arts characters into the culinary world would be cooking tasks.
These can be a range of duties from customer service, taking orders from patrons, washing dishes, to taking on more cook duties such as food prep stations, sauce preparation, and with sufficient skill, being entrusted with the ingredients and cooking the meal item yourself and turning it in at the kitchen for serving.

Professional kitchens have quite a lot of steps involved to feed all the hungry mouths coming in and out so I wouldn't be shocked if they outsourced labor from time to time!

I tossed in a couple very basic tasks to get you started. Chop Ingredients, and Cook Basic Ingredients. Not particularly exciting, but you can head into the (newly-accessible!) kitchen at the Hearth & Home Inn in Shadgard and get tasks there if you have Cooking skill. You may also gaze in awe at the Hearth's fancy kitchen with sinks and gas stoves. You won't find that in Notshadgard!

The ingredient-chopping task does give a tiny bit of experience and Cooking practice per chopping rep, in addition to the usual task completion experience.
