Late yesterday evening - Septum 10th, 1223 - Blackwater Logging Camp was attacked by several waves of a large nethrim swarm. A Chronicle journalist (yours truly) travelled to the Dominion-controlled site to gather facts and was met with an unprecedented military presence for that area, and little in the way of volunteered information from officials. Some of the local contracted loggers, however, were much more willing to relay accounts of their experience.

"They came out of nowhere," reported one Idris Saban, who has been contracted by the Dominion to help operate the Blackwater sawmill. "I've been working here for near a year now and sure, we get the occasional nethrim or infested wandering in thinking we're easy pickings, or even bandits or Liberi from time to time, but the guards always take care of it easily enough. Last night, though ... multiple waves of the walking dead and phantoms. Just emerging from the rain and the darkness and throwing themselves at us time and again. Maybe all this fresh blood was just too much of a temptation and a bunch of the nethrim banded together to try and get it after seeing smaller attempts fail."

While numbers are uncertain, several injuries were reported and at least one death as a result of the attack, as well as a number of camp members having gone missing, though it's unknown whether the latter fled or were taken by the blood-thirsty invaders. Those who frequent the area are asked to keep an eye out for missing persons.

A logger by the name of Myrddin Njord had this to say: "The Dominion guards fought bravely to protect the camp, and some of us loggers helped too. These axes are good for felling more than just trees, you know. I admit I wasn't sure we were going to be able to hold out through the night, but we had some help show up. A younger fellow in heavy armor on a warhorse showed up not long after the attack was reported and did a real number on the invaders. It was just him, the posted guards, and some of us camp residents for a long while, but after several more waves of nethrim, others started showing up as well. Some of them weren't taking the situation very seriously. Laughing and making jokes. Probably those Undying [redacted]."

The Dominion appears to be taking the situation seriously, however. Additional soldiers have since arrived at the logging camp, a new triage tent has been set up, and a second larger tent was seen being raised and outfitted to house a larger garrison of troops. Let us hope this increased military presence discourages any further attacks on the camp and allows the locals to do their logging work without fear of further nethrim attacks.
