So many of the conflicts I've encountered with overhunting or hunting without using all the pieces available making it a waste was animals spawning faster than you can butcher them. Especially for aggressive mobs where you can't transport the carcas. So my suggestion is.

Lighting a campfire will make the beast hesitate to attack you, animals are scared of fire after all. Of course, I think this will be just a temporary thing and perhaps at some point, the animal will overcome its fear of the flames and attack anyway. It would be different for say a resen area and it will attract them towards you instead.

I'm not sure how to address pcs who will chase the system and establish a campfire in every room though. I'm sure no one will really do that, but it's just a thought.
