New: Notifications when a corpse is moved to a crypt

Post by Rias »

Per the changelog: Characters will now be notified when their corpse has been moved to a crypt. The notification will also occur upon character login if the character currently has a corpse at a crypt.

This should help alleviate some of the frustrations of dying and not realizing where one's corpse is, as well as give some subtle OOC motivation for players to drag those corpses to the proper place.

The notification *is* in-character, and the flavor of the messaging is a bit different depending on which crypt a corpse is taken to. I was excited to finally put in a more regular reference and acknowledgment of a particular Immortal for one of them. (For the notify-on-login ones, they can be assumed to be that character's recollection of the in-character notification happening at an earlier time.)

It's also no longer possible to remove corpses from crypts. Attempting to do so will inform the player of such, and will also prompt the player to REPORT if the circumstance is one that requires special attention, such as a corpse being in a crypt the owner cannot access. For now, staff will just move the corpse to an appropriate crypt when this happens, and we'll just sort of hand-wave it for the time being in the interest of gameplay experience. We're still brainstorming ideas on how to discourage bringing corpses to the wrong place. Perhaps the guards will recognize the corpse as someone not welcome in that town and prevent it from being taken through the town entrance, or something of that sort.
