Question Regarding the Animal Spirits

I'm wondering how folks revered the Animal Spirits. I've done a bit of lore delving, and see that there are probably Animal Spirits out there for...well, possibly every different animal. Did folks just make sacrifices or honor them as a whole, or did they make Sacrifices to Specific Spirits, or both?
Hillfolk History says that fantastic, blazing displays of Sacrifices were what he did when he sacrificed people - Is this a common thing, or something rarely seen or done?
