It would be great if any kind of farm food to be transferable from a structure to another structure regardless of what that structure is. If I have pine cones in a shed for some reason, I'd love to transfer them to a hutch, for instance.
To prevent thievery, I will say that I don't think it's entirely necessary for food to be removed entirely from the farm. Example being a shed into a handcart.
I know some folks have pine cones in their troughs but no squirrels. Maybe it would be neat if only the owner can remove said unwanted food. Or perhaps for it to disappear after a few months.
