Balastrossa questions.

Post by Marcuson »

What is the relationship like between the followers of Balastrossa and the Liberi?

Does worship of Balastrossa imply any sympathies toward the Liberi?

I can see why some people might conjecture a relationship between the Liberi and Balastrossa, but that'd probably be something better to pursue in-game (which I encourage you to do!) since they're a group that there isn't much common knowledge about.

I have a general Balastrossa question too.

Does she have an alternate form to the wyvern that followers may use in idols or stories or is she always a white wyvern?

If we ever get player housing, Mistralite houseshares are going to be full of this stuff. "Damnit who let the thousand-year old angry venomous moths out of their velvet pouch again?"

Are there common alternate forms for her that people give her when they hate her? Like the poo-brown Wyvern? Okay, mostly kidding. But really, how universally liked or disliked is she?

Her iconic form/identity is the White Wyvern, and she is said to regard the human form with distaste. Immortals taking other shapes - particularly human ones, when tending to business among humans - is a pretty common trope in tales and legends in general, but in cases with Balastrossa it's more likely to be described as a separate messenger or avatar rather than Balastrossa herself in a different form. (Not because she can't, but because she chooses not to.)

Considering Balastrossa has a reputation for rallying people (and other Immortals) against the Prime Immortals (really need a better term) and that most cultures respect, if not worship, said Prime Immortals, Balastrossa has a tendency to be portrayed in the villain role and is generally considered as such by society at large. Some of her primary adherents are predictably those who have some reason to dislike or be disliked by the Prime Immortals, or those who feel oppressed or betrayed by "the system" or the status quo in general - outcasts, victims of systemic oppression or prejudice, rebels and the like. (Do resist the temptation to assume that all such people are Balastrossa worshippers, however. It's still a relative rarity.) She also has a decent following among those interested in the occult, though due to her previously-mentioned reputation people will often be less open or obvious about it. There are claims that Balastrossa is Iarel's superior when it comes to matters of the occult though (more of the Arcana persuasion than other occult practices), and that can be very tempting.
