Display of zone skill ranges

Post by Serity »

Just going to copy-paste from the post-roundtable discussion because lazy:
Fellborn says, "Unless anyone has anything else specific mob related, I am going to duck out at this point."

Belladana says, "I have a question."

Fellborn nods to Belladana.

Belladana says, "But it is more zone related."

Belladana says, "Can we get a kind of message about the zones skill range? like when we enter one."

Serity says, "--yeah, trial and erroring is... not great for lowbies."

Belladana says, "I dont have the dice rolls on because of screen reader reasons."

Speaking to Belladana, Vaelin says, "Consider mob always is a good first move."

Speaking to Vaelin, Belladana says, "Consider doesnt give me a range."

Fellborn says, "I feel like that is worthy of a forum post. My initial reaction is "No." But I'm the second
most inhospitable GM."

Speaking to Fellborn, Belladana asks, "Why is your first reaction to say no?"

Fellborn says, "It is an open world, and I am quite content with people to make mistakes and stumble onto
places where things go badly."

Belladana asks, "I do understand that then can it be added to consider?"

Belladana says, "I mean consider doesnt tell me a skill range just says if it is to low for me."

Belladana says, "Or to high."

Fellborn says, "I can mention it to the rest of the group, though as I said your best bet would be to create a
forum post and argue your point."

Put me in the don't like the idea camp.

I understand why some zones have a specific flag to highlight their danger, but this seems a bit much.

Part of the fun of open worlds like this is exploring and discovering places, and yes sometimes biting off more than you can chew.

Speaking to you, XYZ says, "Never bother to wash it. It gets dirty again anyway."
Speaking to XYZ, you say, "I hope you don't treat your ass the same way."

Honestly, also not a fan. I generally play these games for immersion, and so the fewer OOC and meta mechanics the better for me.

I feel likewise.
"The sky, above the clouds; A rainbow that fate has devoured
I gave up Hope
But I'm not going to be lost tomorrow; Even if it is hell
I'm gonna' crawl. "

Even for the lower level and new players, learning where you can and can’t go is a good idea though I do think it would take away from the immersion if you were told. Yes dying is annoying but it’s apart of the experience. I dont agree with this prompt
dont be afraid, she doesnt bite
*hangry cona*
actually... she might bite.
