Warlock Ability Suggestion: Nether Sinews

Post by Marcuson »

(Note: I've never played a sorcerer before, so some of this may not make sense. Hopefully the general idea is still useful.)

Nether Sinews is an ability that can be learned by Warlocks.

IC Description: Scholars have long recognized that nether more readily clings to and manipulates the remains of once-living creatures. Skilled sorcerers can use this property to their advantage in melee combat, though some may find that the degree of concentration required is far too limiting.

OOC Description: (Grants some melee prowess. The sorcerer must be clad in armor made from bone, and while doing so, the sorcerer can channel as if they are wearing no armor, though all other sorcerous abilities will be suppressed. If opposed by iron weaponry, this ability may be disrupted.)

Usage: cast nether_sinews

---------

Basically, what I imagine is occult power armor for Warlocks who want to try melee combat. For the duration of this ability, they are treated as if they have the Combat Precision, Combat Readiness, and Tactics: Nethrim abilities. Tactics: Nethrim allows one reroll on unarmed attacks (which do nether damage) and gives a 30% reduction to Armor Hindrance for medium armor.

While using Nether Sinews, six of the sorcerer's seven armor slots have to be bone armor, and the sorcerer will suffer no armor penalties for channelling. The last slot can be empty, if the sorcerer wishes, but wearing anything but bone will have the normal penalties for channeling. The sorcerer can't cast any other sorcery spells while Nether Sinews is active.

When injured by an iron weapon while using Nether Sinews, the sorcerer has to roll a check to see if the ability is disrupted. Increased Sorcery skill and Willpower grant rerolls to their check. Steel weapons don't trigger a check, and neither iron nor steel do alchemical damage to the sorcerer.
