Clay mold durability/impermanence
Clay mold durability/impermanence
I've been thinking it would be good for potters if clay molds weren't a once-and-done acquisition. They don't need to break crazy fast - I think a button mold should be good for about a thousand buttons, so metalcasting with it would take off 0.1% durability. I don't know if the mold durability should vary by size (some take 1 clay, others as many as 4), or the number of items that go into creating a full mold (5 needles, 4 buttons, 3 nails, 1 buckle, etc). When quality is coded in to help with durability, that would also provide good reason to want to buy fine molds instead of average ones.
Re: Clay mold durability/impermanence
Agreed, molds should definitely have a limited number of uses to help potters stay in business. Exception being the permanent ones in the smithy. I'll to-do that - or rather, find it wherever it's buried way down in the lost and forgotten depths of the older to-do list entries.
