Voicechat notes 26 Sep 2021

Post by nobody »

I came in part way through on this first one, so I'm not sure if it's two different kinds of mercants we'll see, or two ideas for how to do a horse merchant.
- Horse groomer: restring some things about the horse, but not noun etc.
- Horse trader: "trade horses" for one with same stats and totally different desc

- Next hunting area will be another big area with multiple sub areas. After Octum and Factions. And maybe soceity NPCs.

- If you want to suggest wilderness critters, please do. Descriptions for them are helpful.

- Tumble currently does use acrobatics skill

- Rias describes the genre as gaslamp because there isn't the crazy tech of steampunk, but it's a little steam. Mid fantasy, magic isn't unheard of, but it's also not up to 11.

- Magic components? Yes, for complex stuff, and maybe for different types of side effects. Example from the chat was having seeds for a tangle root spell, so that the roots *always* have a place to come from, and different seeds might have different secondary effects.

- Societies will get phased release, possibly starting with NPCs you can ask about.

- Harbingers will be NotShad only, anti-nethrim will probably be Shadgard exclusive.

- No Tiodor NPC because no negotiation with Liberi. There is a deliberate barrier there. Remember, the Liberi do not want to be your friends.

- Bushcraft campsite is potentially on the table, but right balance needs to be struck. Will deteriorate / not be permanent.

- Please add rate setting and consent for therapies.

- Revisit schedules for Blackwater NPCs, maybe add a couple more.

Thanks for these. Here's my haul (please correct me if I've gone wrong anywhere!):

Q From Lexx: What is the infrastructure in the Lost Lands, and Arad,
like? Are there any cobbled/brick/etc./ roads, canals, etc.?
A: It is perhaps unrealistic to expect established routes and roads
over long distances. While Aetgard has a good tech level,
infrastructure has degraded over time and routes are quite
delapidated, especially off the beaten path (e.g. Shadgard).

Q: Is there a reason javelin heads can't be knapped, but crossbolt
bolt heads can be?
A: No reason why not. Will look into that.

Q From Silly: I have a character that is allergic to specific foods
and I want to make sure if it'd be fine to emote the effects of those
allergies, like eyes swelling up and things, or if there is some rule
against doing too much to a char's description.
A: That's absolutely fine if you want to do that.

Q From Bonehead: So, it's Rumored that the people of Lapis are
descendants of people who split off from Sifa'z Exodus. Do they feel
any particular way towards Hillfolk in general?
A: [Tulpa: This one was definitely answered but I was thinking about
rabbits and, to a lesser extent, carrots. Hopefully someone else
caught what was said, sorry!]

Q from Teri: I tried out bow hunting and well since I use javelins,
aim shot prioritizes the bow, leaving me sadly javelin aimless.
A: It should prioritise the javelin if you're holding it. Bug, will be
addressed.

Qs from Arwayne: Would NPC patients having fractures and frostbite be
possible? Will there be clothing repairs?
A:Yes, both of these are in the works.

Qs from Kaiju:
Q: Do Giganti have any specific preference to tattoos? Are they mostly
tribal in nature or purely individual? Do they have a deeper meaning
to them like say, Fasa? Is there any kind of cultural approach to
tattoos in the Giganti, or a recognised look to them across the clans?
A: The Giganti are fond of runes/glyphs and likely to incorporate that
into their tattoo designs (see also question about One Tongue). They may indicate tribal allegiance but
this isn't set in stone. Rias mentioned 'evergrowing' tattoos related to tribes that can be modified over time. There is some scope for individuality but
nothing wildly off-piece. Rias thinks that Fasa would tend to be
stricter about tattoo designs' authenticity (always with some room for individual
flair, but again nothing too eccentric) and unaccepting of tattoos
that don't fit with an established clan's aesthetics.

Q: Are combat zones beyond 400+ likely to be humanoid in nature, or
more bestial/nethrim? Do you have anything in mind for your 400-500
slots?
A: [Tulpa: I'm not sure this was answered directly - I hope
zombilicious may have caught it as she put the question in the end].

Rias said he was currently very focussed on delivering on the Octum
content. There was some discussion about developing the Infested
further; as it's always interesting to be fighting "real people".

Q: Greatswords, greataxes, and mauls, when?
A: When they're made!

Q: Plate, chainmail, scalemail, when?
A: When they're made!

Q: Despite the issues involved with ensuring the proper elements
required for the usage of the One Tongue in regards to Giganti, do
they still use the language in the hopes of it working? Do young
Giganti get some runes tattooed on them despite the fact that anyone
knowledgeable knows that it won't work? Or is that knowledge not
commonplace, and the Runskjaere encourage that sort of abandonment so
only they can provide?
A: [Tulpa: Again, perhaps others will be able to share more
enlightening/accurate notes on this!]
General sense was that there is still a
healthy respect for tradition and symbology within Giganti
communities, and inherent power within runes/glyphs. Regarded as a 'pure' language of the mountain father.

I remember this one! Rias said that we wouldn't know enough about Lapis and Lapisians to know what their attitude about Hillfolks are.
"You hear the Woses, the Wild Men of the Woods... Remnants of an older time they be, living few and secretly, wild and wary as beasts."
