Q: Like in the real world. Cultures have some reputation about food, like some countries are rather fond of extremely spicy foods etc.
What I want to know is, what are foods from the different cultures like? Do Kaldians have rather bland taste? Rhuhidim rather complicated in their recipes, etc?
A: Khaldeans like really spicy stuff! Otherwise, he'll have to think about it.

Q: Are Canim more or less likely to be seen in Dominion lands than around Shadgard?
A: Canim are more likely to be seen in dominion lands than shadgard. yes.

Q: What kinds of landscape features and resources do Canim seek out or feel comfortable around?
A: They like places they can kind of hole up. It depends on the canim. though. It's not like they're all the same. They tend to have a little place they can hole up and range around from; whether that's a hole in the ground or a ruined building that they found. Canim are more hungry than most. It's just eating stuff, they're not that picky; only in that they prefer their food uncooked. They need food sources.

Q: Do Canim tend to gather in particular locations, or do they roam endlessly/are they pursued from place to place?
Some of them gather, some of them go round on their own. It's safe to say most civilised places aren't going to like canim. They tend to be driven off if they get too close to population centres. There are some canim that are more or less in control of their wits and can be talked with (mostly like any other person!) but they have their anger issues.

Q: For those banding together, do they tend to be "fighty"?
A: They tend to pack, form groups, but the groups don't tend to get too big. They'll split off, they're not the most apt at larger social groups.

Q: Would solo [Canim] not bother with others if encountered?
A: It would really depend on the individual. It would depend what their situation was, how stable it is. They can still be pretty complicated, their social interactions --- they still have their individuality and things they do, personalities, who they are. There's not really just one kind of behaviour for them.

Q: Are the Canim exclusive to the Lost Lands?
A: No, but there's a lot more of them in the Lost Lands.

Q: Would the Canim outside of the Lost Lands be more wildly variant because there are fewer of them?
A: They would be more stuff you sometimes hear about, rumours rather than the things that you actually see.

Q: Do Canim eat people, or is that just rumoured?
A: Dunno, you'll have to find out!

q: Do canim have any noticeable societal structure?
a: People don't know a whole lot about it. They do tend to form groups. While we're on the subject, just to dispel any thoughts: they're not just bipedal wolves. They're very human-like. They don't have wolf ears or wolf snouts.

Q: Do Infested attack eachother?
A: If you hear about it, it's rare.

Q: Do Liberi attack eachother?
A: If you haven't seen it then... who knows.

Q: Are people actually living in tarueka? what are the mobs doing?
A: We can assume they're doing their own thing. The spearfishers, they're spearfishing, the laborers, they're working on something or at least trying. They're doing stuff, but they're also highly aggressive. It's not just like they're victims of violence, they're definitely the aggressors if anyone shows up.

Q: Who or what might people appeal to in order to ward off the Canim affliction?
A: The whole thing with it is they're going feral, beastlike. A lot of people would turn to druidic primal stuff or Immortals that have an association with the wild. Vandin might be the one you'd pray to/go to if you needed information. He's going to have to think about which tropes he loves and which ones he wants to defy. Rias didn't want there to be an immortal for everything, an answer to everything. That's not what rias was going for here; not the kind of world this is. There isn't an Immortal for literally every concept; they're definitely a limited kind of group.

Q: Where are you up to with the new Immortals?
A: Rias hates the names that he has for them right now, he could alwas release them with their descriptive epithets. (Comment from Rilulth: You could always ask us GMs for name inspirations ;))

Q: how do different forms of occult interact?
A: You've got the lesser known thing, now, of sorcery and thaumaturgy clashing. As far as mixing... he would have to think. You could say that Arcana is the most mixy, occultists could be using Arcana to catalyse or affect other things. There are also plenty of rumours about the Dunwyr using a combination of Sorcery and Druidry.

Q: What happens if someone channeling Arcana stepped into a circle? [Tulpa: I'm not 100% clear on this question/wasn't sure if I understood it correctly. That goes for a lot of Arcanist mumbo-jumbo! ;)]
A: It would probably depend on the circle. The way it is now is just for game purposes to make the thing work.

Q: When you're holding something in your hand what distinguishes something from being a milimetre away from your hand when stepping into a circle?
A: That's a good question. ???

Q: is a familiar a split of the soul?
A: That's the generally held theory. They're tethered to their masters, to an extent: there's only so far away that they can go from their master. Minion code is always the worst.

Q: Is there 'chat' stuff to discover from NPCs?
A: There are lots of references to lore stuff, some references to people, some references to locations. There's one a small puzzle thing that he's not sure people have put together but they've found the area it alludes to anyway.

Q: Have you ever given NPCs talk about recent/current events?
A: No, not really. He would rather do it through the rumour system.

Q: Should vital parts be the same for Nethrim?
A: He doesn't know. Their chest isn't really vital but if you break it in half it should essentially be dead anyway. A lot of vital [targeting] stuff works on Nethrim. The system just kind of assumes you chopped their skull off, etc. Assume it's dead.

Q: if someone dies with 'distyr' would their body keep glowing?
A: No, he thinks it would shut off.

Q: Are druidic tattoos or arcana glyphs in any way related?
A: Clearly there's power in form (this has come up one or two times before). There's a similar theme.

Q: Does Vitality focus on the tattoos or does it "go into them"?
A: It's not only in the tattoos.

Q: Will there be study rooms for linguistics, sorcery?
A: Rias wants to put another Sorcery point out there for study. He wants more ways in general for sorcerers to get their practice on. Sorcery was the first magicky occult thing he worked on; its definitely the most foundational occult branch. [T: I'm not sure if Linguistics was addressed.]

Q: What's the specific benefit to 1.5 hand weapons? How do you feel about 1.5h weapons, do they fill a niche?
A: He's happy to improve them in some way if people think they're lacking. But if you have a 1.5h that's as good as dedicated 1h or 2h weapons then why use anyhing else, on the other hand [T: hoho]. The design is such that it can be versatile, he doesn't want them to be as good as a dedicated 2h or 1h.

Q: Would you ever consider upgrading damage types for 1.5h weapons if they're wielded with two hands? The longsword, for example, does pierce damage currently. Would you ever consider a system where it does pierce if used one-handed, but is upgraded to puncture damage if wielded in two hands?
A: That would need new code, but it could happen. The worry about upgrading it to puncture is that there would be calls for every 2h that does that to only do puncture, it's not a specialised weapon thing then. There'd be less motivation for different weapon choices.

so, i'll post the questions that I asked on the #game channel, along with a few more.
1. In mistral, would sorcery like the occult would require a permit to use by the average citizen?
2. how far will the dominions control extend into the private lives of their own people?
3. how far can the dominion be compared with a real life authoritarian government?
4. with the Master of Mistveil keep mentioned in the dominion helpfile, would the dominion be an organized governing body or a dictatorship?
5. this one is a bit personal, and if I can make it, i would appreciate a few tips, characters wanting to join the dominion, or who support their cause, but are hedging their bets before fully committing, can it be a workable course of action?
6. when refering to law and order, what would be the exact laws that dominion members will be required to follow? i'm thinking along the lines of aside from the obvious, would there be any restrictions between the exchange of resources or trade.
i'll post more if i can think of them, but i personally find the small details very facinating. also, with the refference to personal freedom, what would it translate too under the dominion?

@darkangel I'm going to move your questions over to the recent thread about Mistral so they can be answered sooner while the topic is still fresh rather than waiting til next Saturday, and so it can be more open to both discovery and additional discussion by others. We can still discuss the topic at the next voicechat though! It's a fun one to talk about, and something I am continually mulling over and making little tweaks and considerations to. Thank you for posting your questions!

Can I Canim? I guess I can! Though feel free to ignore any of the following (some of the questions can be smushed together if appropriate).

Q: Are Canim more or less likely to be seen in Dominion lands than around Shadgard?

Q: What kinds of landscape features and resources do Canim seek out or feel comfortable around?

Q: Do Canim tend to gather in particular locations, or do they roam endlessly/are they pursued from place to place?

Q: Who or what might people appeal to in order to ward off the Canim affliction?

Q: It was mentioned in the past that Canim are sometimes regarded as having sullied souls, even before they become afflicted. How are they treated by Undm and her worshippers (and/or her Cerubim)?

How do different forms of Occult interact? Do any of them clash in any way? Will we be seeing mixes in game?

What qualifies for holding things for the purpose of Shaol (Floaty glyph). Arcana is soul related, and Sorcery, for example, is quite emotionally related. Thus, would channeling sorcery and stepping into a circle affect that sorcery?

Is there any particular reason that the back doesn't count as a vital part for most nethrim?
