Here's another list of stolen ideas. You'd be amazed at how many high-level spells are "just like the other one, but more!" or "let's break the laws of reality, that'd be cool right?"
  • create a "sourceless sound" - leave a spoken message that will repeat to the person who enters the circle, or a voice that haunts a room for the duration, repeating perhaps a half-dozen times during the duration.
  • seal a portal - in the mundane sense, use magical force to hold a door or object closed (or open?)
  • make the ground slippery - ew (if you already have slippery footing mechanics planned great, otherwise too much work for too little pay off probably)
  • create a cloud of fog in the area - useful, might make more sense for druids along with other weather magic?
  • create a force horse - always have a mount, and provide others with amusement when you fail to dismount your flickering steed!
  • discern written languages - would replace the future usefulness of linguistics
  • mark an object with a visible aura - fun, but very limited use (you could potentially disguise your aura color by re-coloring your pendant?)
  • create illusory text, or temporarily make real text invisible - the first is useful for messages you want to disappear after a short time, the latter if you only want them visible after a short time
  • make a person bigger or smaller - also probably more druidry
  • reduce impact from a fall - useful, may step on the toes of acrobatics
  • use force to turn a lock - negates usefulness of locksmithing skill so probably a nope
  • create an area of sticky ground - also kinda useful but would require inventing new mechanics just for this
  • pair a stick and an object so that the stick always points in the direction of the object - this would be a cool trick to play on bandits, but negates the usefulness of the tracking skill
  • create an area of darkness - is a thing sorcery can already do, so probably not arcana
  • create a vibration that destroys objects - fits with fortourgy, could be very useful in combat to destroy a foes weapons/armor
  • make a creature blind and/or deaf - a great trap effect
  • create text that explodes when read - also a delightful trap effect
  • create a wall of force that block projectiles - this would be redundant with warding sphere I think
  • shrink an item - this would probably just change the class down 2 categories, remove any wearable, weapon, or container properties, and reduce weight to zero (or at least substantially lower). Would be great for packing up your empty handcart, and hilarious when it expands in your backpack and crushes you. Also probably doesn't fit with existing lore.
  • gain the ability to breate water - THIS WOULD BE A GREAT DRUID ABILITY! get them gills! It'd effectively return energy recovery to normal when in deep water
  • conjure an object from nothing - useful, but quite problematic
  • create an illusionary wall - could be used to hide an exit like doors, arches, etc. probably shouldn't work on standard directions in the wilderness - wouldn't block travel in the relevant direction
  • create a wall of force - same as above, but instead of not seeing the exit, they can't use it. combined with the above would be very effective at messing with people

I'd love a glyph that produces enough heat to cook with for the standard duration. Maybe have it get activated with 'put skillet in circle'.
