Bushcraft tourism

Post by nobody »

I got to play tourist today at a historical site in Illinois (central-ish USA) and thought I'd share the few pictures I took of the cool bushcraft tools for all those bushcraft loving folk we have here.

The first picture has fishing hooks and needles made from deer bone, a mussel shell "spoon", an obsidian knife with a dear antler handle, and mostly off picture (only partially visible in one corner) a clay pipe.

The second picture has a deer bone awl and a copper necklace.

And the third picture has a flint hand-hoe and a dipper made from a gourd.

The site was mostly inhabited before 1400 AD, but none of the artifacts are from the site (the display my pictures are from was more focused on comparison to modern tools than reporting the origin of the artifacts - they're reproductions, but I still thought it cool and worth sharing).
