[April Fools'] COGG is going graphical!

Post by Rias »

We're very excited to announce the next step in COGG's evolution: We're going graphical MMORPG! We've hired a small team of graphic designers and programmers with previous experience in graphical games such as Hero's Journey, Peasant's Quest, and Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing.

While there's something to be said for the text-based medium of MUDs, that kind of environment and gameplay is clearly on its way out. I can't tell you how excited we are to finally be able to show people just exactly what to see when they adventure through the Lost Lands. Why burden the imagination with such things when the sensory information can be fed directly to you through a graphical representation on your screen? No need to worry about the fact that all 16 of those ruins look virtually identical - you can actually see them, and that's exciting! At last, everyone will see exactly the same thing and not have to worry about personal interpretation or aesthetic preference differences getting in the way. And no more having to laboriously write out elaborate emotes when a fun standard 3D animation can be invoked with a simple `/laugh` command! (5 additional emotes also available to cover virtually any RP situation!)

Of course, having an expanded team of programmers and graphic artists means the cost of running COGG has increased, so we will be instating a monthly subscription fee of $19.99 (+$1.99/mo. for an additional character slot). Everyone here on the COGG team is certain that our players will find it well worth the price, however. Finally, players can get past all those burdensome, boring words and cut straight to the visual action and scenery without having to spend any mental processing power on envisioning the world in a highly personalized way through evocative textual interpretation.

In COGG, the future is now! Or, at least, as soon as we can get enough graphics assets ready. And figure out all these bugs with the Unity game engine. And fix these issues where objects keep clipping through other objects.

But the future is close! It's on the horizon!

I'm so excited that there will be one graphical representation for all 6 glyphs! Do you think you could streamline the process by reducing emotes to nod and smile? Who'd ever want to do anything else?

Finally, those afflicted with purple tongue can see the majestic, royal violet hues of their silvery appendage in full graphical glory!
