Chained Weapons

I was pondering weapon choice for my character and came upon what I felt to be an interesting reason for wielding a ball-and-chain. If there is any intention to make them available at some point, I would very much like to know.

When we were speaking in a GM call, we gave Rias some ideas for some fun new weapons, so I am hoping chained is on the horizon.

We do have a few other things we want to iron out before though, like combat area gaps, but hopefully soon!

I don't really like the idea of chained weapons in the game as governed by a single skill that encompasses every other type of weapon. There's also rather a lot of controversy as to whether or not they even existed as a weapon outside of Japan or China.

Chained weapons are planned. I've been waiting on them because I'd like to have them be a bit harder to wield effectively and rely on the Affinity system, making them harder to break into at first (with some ensuing self-inflicted injury hilarity). But I suppose we already have slings and there's a similar plan for them as well once affinities come out, so maybe we can get chained weapons in sooner since I don't really know when I'll actually implement affinities.

I've heard and read various material about how chained weapons were likely not as practical or common as pop culture might lead us to believe. I don't think I could be convinced that they didn't exist at all outside Japan or China, though. Even were that the case, this is one of those things I'd be willing to Rule of Cool in anyway, because chained weapons like ball-and-chains and morning-stars are just conceptually so much fun, and I allow myself occasional little biases like that.

This is in encouraging news. Thank you. I eagerly await the comedic fractures and black eyes I will suffer from my own fumbling attempts to wield the ball-and-chain. It will make any proficiency eventually achieved feel all the sweeter.
