Combat ability rolls
I would like to put forth for discussion the idea of increasing combat ability rolls somewhat over those of common attacks. Most combats abilities have cooldowns, additional energy and balance costs, and can even require a certain amount of positive balance to execute. I should like to see them have some greater advantage in favor of the one using them to improve their reliability, considering these extra costs and restrictions.

Remember that stance will help a lot (or at least it should - if it doesn't, please bug it). You'll want to go stance offense to use your combat maneuvers to their fullest effect. You bring up some good points, so I'll consider some numbers tweaks. If I do, though, just be aware it'll apply to NPCs as well!
