On death, sanity, and morale

Situations or discussions have come up a number of times where people haven't especially enjoyed the sanity and morale hits on death and the associated effects - particularly the difficulty speaking aspect. One thing that occasionally comes up is the idea that a character, as an Undying who has experienced death multiple times, should be used to it by now. I wanted to clarify that the effects aren't just a result of that character's internal reflection and mental strife from the events that occurred. Presumably there is something that happens during the process of literally dying, and then somehow having one's soul stuffed into another body, that leaves the soul/consciousness fragmented and disoriented for a while before it can put itself fully back together again. Whatever is involved in this process doesn't allow for someone getting used to it - it's just a hard result of the process. It has nothing to do with a lack of toughness or willpower or experience on that person's part. Wanting to avoid that interpretation by others is understandable, but that doesn't change the fact that the results are always going to happen.

If someone stands in the rain, they're going to get rained on regardless of how many times they've stood in the rain before and not liked the experience.
