Social Media (Twitter/Mastodon) for event announcements etc.

I'll come right out and say I generally loathe social media. I know a lot of other people seem to like it, though. I recently resurrected COGG's Twitter (which was never really used) and linked it up to a newly-registered Mastodon account for COGG. They cross-post between each other, so people can subscribe to whichever they prefer (I prefer Mastodon of the two - the Fediverse concept is pretty awesome).
The hope is to announce events to keep people aware of when things are happening, as well as occasional social media posts about major changes/updates.
